چکیده

The Green function Monte Carlo method of Chin et al is applied to SU(2) Yang– Mills theory in (2 + 1) dimensions. Accurate measurements are obtained for the ground-state energy and mean plaquette value, and for various Wilson loops. The results are compared with series and linked-cluster expansions, and with the Euclidean Monte Carlo results of Teper. The finite-size scaling behaviour of the model is discussed briefly.

Adjoint String Breaking in 4d SU(2) Yang-Mills Theory

We compute the static potential of adjoint sources in SU(2) Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions by numerical Monte Carlo simulations. Following a recent calculation in 2+1 dimensions, we employ a variational approach involving string and gluelump operators and obtain clear evidence for string breaking and the saturation of the potential at large distances. For the string breaking scale we find...

Monte Carlo Approach to M-Theory

We discuss supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory dimensionally reduced to zero dimensions and evaluate the SU(2) and SU(3) partition functions by Monte Carlo methods. The exactly known SU(2) results are reproduced to very high precision. Our calculations for SU(3) agree closely with an extension of a conjecture due to Green and Gutperle concerning the exact value of the SU(N) partition functions. ∗k...

Green's Function Monte Carlo Approach to Su(3) Yang-mills Theory in (3+1)d

A 'forward walking' Green's Function Monte Carlo algorithm is used to obtain expectation values for SU(3) lattice Yang-Mills theory in (3+1) dimensions. The ground state energy and Wilson loops are calculated, and the finite-size scaling behaviour is explored. Crude estimates of the string tension are derived, which agree with previous results at intermediate couplings; but more accurate result...

Universality for SU(2) Yang-Mills theory in 2+1 dimensions.

A comparison is made for SU~2! Yang-Mills theory in ~211!D between various Hamiltonian results obtained by series expansions, linked cluster expansions, and coupled cluster methods, and the recent Euclidean Monte Carlo results of Teper. A striking demonstration of universality between the Hamiltonian and Euclidean formulations is obtained, once the difference in scales between the two formulati...

Transverse Lattice QCD in 2+1 Dimensions

Based on an idea due to Bardeen and Pearson, we formulate the light-front Hamiltonian problem for SU(N) Yang-Mills theory in (2+1)-dimensions using two continuous space-time dimensions and the remaining space dimension discretised on a lattice. We employ analytic and numerical methods to investigate the continuum limit and the glueball spectrum for N = ∞. In this limit, EguchiKawai reduction to...
